A woman called 43 churches asking for baby formula.
41 said no.
Those same churches spent $3.2M this year on LED screens, fog machines, and coffee bars.
In your head.
In your head.
Zombie.
James 2:17:
"Faith without works is dead."
Not struggling.
Not immature.
DEAD.
41 churches had buildings worth millions.
Couldn't spare $30 for formula.
That's not stewardship.
That's embalming fluid disguised as budgets.
The Cranberries wrote Zombie about Northern Ireland.
Violence hidden behind ideology.
Children dying while adults argued theology.
30 years later.
Different country.
Same corpse.
Babies hungry while we debate complementarianism.
People dying while we protect comfort.
Souls lost while we upgrade lights.
Zombie Christianity isn't false Christianity.
It's DEAD Christianity.
Still moving.
Still talking.
Still showing up Sunday.
But nothing behind the eyes.
No pulse when you check.
Just routines where resurrection should be.
Your son is watching.
He saw you quote James.
Saw you walk past need.
Saw you route people through systems that protect you from inconvenience.
He's taking notes.
Not on your theology.
On your corpse.
Matthew 25:45:
"Whatever you did not do for the least of these, you did not do for me."
Jesus didn't say:
"Unless your benevolence committee hasn't approved it."
He said:
You saw me hungry.
You walked past me.
Here's how you know if your faith is alive:
Someone in actual need crosses your path.
Do you help immediately?
Or route them through systems?
A = Alive
B = Zombie
The woman who called those churches has kids.
Those kids now know:
41 churches said no when they were hungry.
What do you think they'll say in 15 years when someone invites them to church?
Generational zombification.
We're not just killing ourselves.
We're killing our kids' faith.
Resurrection isn't a metaphor.
It's an action.
It starts with $30 and baby formula.
With choosing inconvenience over comfort.
With saying yes when systems say no.
With being alive enough to see people instead of problems.
You can't serve both God and zombification.
Either American Christianity resurrects or it rots.
And it starts with you.
With the person in front of you.
With choosing to stay alive.
In your head.
In your head.
What's it gonna be?
This is what I write about at 4 AM while zombie churches sleep.
How comfortable Christianity died.
How to come back to life before your kids notice you're dead.
