Shabbat shalom to you all. May Shabbat bring restoration to our souls, so we can live in such a way that our light continues to shine beyond us.
We pray for the three remaining deceased hostages. I hope that Israel then finishes the job.
This week’s Torah reading (Parasha) is called ‘Chayei Sarah’ - the life of Sarah.
Genesis 23:1-25:18
In this parasha we see how it all began. Briefly:
1. Sarah and Abraham die and are buried in Hebron. The first Jewish burial place, 4000 years ago. Abraham leaves everything to Isaac.
2. Isaac marries Rebecca and they become the progenitors of the Jewish people.
3. Ishmael had twelve sons who became tribal rulers. They settled near the eastern border of Egypt and lived in hostility toward all the tribes related to them.
