Two minutes after al-Julani, the "butcher," left the White House, he was asked about joining the Abraham Accords.
With all the confidence in the world, he replied that "it is impossible because Israel is occupying the Golan Heights."
Right, of course. Because clearly, history starts the moment it’s convenient.
He must have conveniently forgotten that in 1973, the Arab armies, including his beloved Syria, launched a surprise attack on Israel-on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for Jews.
The war was brutal, Israel fought back, and against all odds, won.
The Golan Heights were captured fair and square, and if the Americans hadn’t stepped in, Damascus itself might have needed a new name by now.
Context matters-though apparently not for al-Julani.
