Your FBI counterintelligence has more updates for you on our efforts to defend the homeland and protect the American people – THREE big wins in just THREE days.   -Yana Leonova, a Belorussian citizen, was extradited for allegedly conspiring to evade U.S. export laws by selling sensitive aircraft equipment to Russia. For those who think they can get away with acts like these, know the FBI and our partners WILL find you, no matter where you are, and bring you to justice. Thank you to FBI Kansas City, BIS Atlanta and New York, and to our partners in France.  -Ji Wang was convicted of multiple counts of economic espionage and theft of trade secrets. Corning, Inc. and DARPA spent MILLIONS of dollars developing sensitive technology, which Wang stole to line his own pockets and help our adversaries undermine U.S. national security. Let me be clear: Protecting American businesses is a top priority for your FBI, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure American innovation is not stolen for our enemies. Thank you to FBI NY, BIS and HSI for your dedicated work. -Three research scholars from the People's Republic of China - Xu Bai, Fengfan Zhang, and Zhiyong Zhang – were charged with conspiracy to smuggle biological materials into the United States and for making false statements to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers. These are the latest charges in a string of cases stemming from Chinese National students’ criminal activities at university research centers. The FBI will NOT tolerate any attempt to exploit American institutions to break the law, and we remain dedicated to protecting our communities and our educational institutions from these threats.
