36. If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Jeremiah 31:36. Jeremiah 31 has 40 verses speaking of the New Covenant to Israel and Jehovah's love for Israel in the last days. These words are spoken by God Almighty to Jeremiah. The Almighty speaks of ordinances of the sun, moon, and stars: if they could stop their functions of giving light, if the waves of the seas held in check, not to pass the boundaries put on them, overflowed, then Israel would cease to be a nation before God. Jehovah says in verse 37, if heaven can be measured and the foundations of earth be revealed, He would cast off all the seed of Israel for what they have done. Verse 31:31, Jehovah says He makes a New Covenant with Israel, not like the one made when they came out of Egypt. Jehovah speaks of Jerusalem rebuilt, never to be thrown down anymore for ever. Christ is the Stone the builders refused, that joins Jews and Gentiles into the same body of Christ. If you are unsure what "for ever" means, Christ has promised that we will be with Him for ever. Amen, and Let it be so.
