5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:5.
Our righteousness is filthy rags before a Holy and Almighty God.
Christ is salvation, and you will find it nowhere else.
It is the blood of Christ that purges the stains of sin. His body was wounded and bruised for our iniquities, and by His stripes, we are healed.
You cannot go to church enough, read the Bible enough, pray, fast, or do all the religious acts to be saved. These are the works of men which lead to destruction, having trusted these instead of Christ Jesus.
Christ has paid the debt that no other can pay.
The grace and love of God has led us to the Son, who sent the Holy Ghost and gave life to a perishing soul.
And every day He is with us, transforming us into the image of Christ our Lord.
So the works of righteousness which cannot save, but they can teach us how we can better serve the Lord Christ.
He came to us while we were dead in sins, lighting up the darkness, and giving us eternal life.
That as others see us, we are like a lighthouse, showing a shipwrecked soul the path to eternal life through the Gospel of Christ. Amen.
