105. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.Psalm 119:105. The law and commandments show mankind their duty to God and man. By understanding, sin is exposed, and the righteousness that God requires is revealed. By this light, a man sees his imperfections and disobedience. He sees the need for a righteousness better than his own to justify him in the sight of God. The Gospel part of God's word is a glorious light by which mankind finds Christ. The law has no mercy; you are either guilty or innocent. Christ's mercy on the Cross is without measure. In Christ is forgiveness, pardon, grace, mercy, salvation, and eternal life. Christ is the Light shining into our darkness of sin. As we journey through this dark world, the light shows the difference between lies and truth. Pointing the way in which we should walk, avoiding the pits and ditches of destruction. The word of God is for believers whose eyes have been opened and enlightened by the Spirit of God, for the mind is renewed by reading God's word. Notice, a lamp, candle, or any other source of light, is of no use to a blind man on a hazardous road. Amen.
