22. Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? Therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.Jeremiah 14:22.Israel and Judah have been cast out by the LORD because of their continued idolatry. The rains have stopped, and famine and death are evident. Jeremiah prays a prayer that looks to a New Covenant with God. Seeing a people who believe God in Christ will receive favor not for what they have done, but for what God has done in Christ, and because of who God is. 2 Timothy 1:9, Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,10. But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Amen.
