The legends of giants.
Etchings from the early 17th century by Jacob Le Maire "Adventures on land at Porto Desire (Puerto Deseado), December 1615"
Puerto deseado is a city in modern day Argentina.
Dutch circumnavigator and Mariner Jacob le maire shows the skeletons of giants almost double the size of those excavating the remains.
"December 1615. Hunting for sea lions, ostriches and penguins, search for fresh water and the discovery of graves"
This artifact included other navigators and travelers recording some very interesting things
1. Magellan 1521 "ten span corpse "(7.6 feet)
2. Garcia Jofre de Loaisa 1525 "thirteen spans" (9.9 feet)
3. Francis Drake (1577) "7.5 feet"
A. Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa (1579) "big People/giants”
5. Anthonie Knivet (1591) "corpse fourteen Pans tall" (9.9 feet)
6. Anonymous "fifteen to sixteen spans based on footprints" (12 feet)
7. Sebald de Veert (1599) "ten or eleven feet tall"
8. Oliver van Noort (1599) "ten or twelve feet high tt
9. Joris van Spilbergen (1614) "a human being of very big stature"
10. Willem Schouten (1615) "bones 10 to 11 feet"
11. Gonzalo Garcia del Nodal (1618)’taller, by the head, than the Europeans"
12. Dionisio de Rueda (1641) " gigantic people"
For years we have official reports of these giant beings.
Until naval officer John Narbrough during his well know voyage to Patagonia in 1670 he records "people of average size" and Jacques UHermite (1624) "not larger than the inhabitants of Europe"
Either the giants became less common by the mid 17th century or the recording of these areas and their inhabitants was being restricted.
