3. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2 Thessalonians 2:3.
Paul is warning the church at Thessalonica that they had not missed the rapture, as some had been told. His evidence of this is that things must happen before the Day of the Lord.
A great falling away—this phrase in Greek means a rebellion or departure worldwide—will take place.
The man of sin will be revealed before the Great Tribulation; he will exalt himself above God, saying he is God, and demand worship. He will sponsor a religion that does not tolerate any worship of anyone or anything but himself.
The title of son of perdition means a man doomed to eternal destruction in hell.
There are no surprises to the followers of Christ; He has saved us, and we belong to Him. All who believe and trust Him will not be moved off the path.
Only those that comfort themselves in this world will believe the strong delusion, that they will believe the lie and not truth, ending in their utter destruction. Amen.
