No one can deny… Trump is right about tariffs!!As I recently explained on the Tom Roten show, I’ve spent most of my life believing in free markets.For years, I was an old-school, classical free-marketer who thought tariffs were bad policy.But President Trump changed my mind.He showed me that when you use tariffs smartly — not as a blunt weapon, but as a precise tool — you can protect American jobs without hurting American families.I’ve seen how he uses tariffs creatively, refining them midstream when necessary, always focused on keeping America competitive.That’s how leadership works… not just setting a policy, but adjusting it when it needs to work smarter.We have to make sure we’re producing the steel that goes into our cans, our cars, and our defense equipment right here in the United States.When we rely on other countries, it drives up costs at the grocery store.Every time a can of soup or a pack of green beans costs more, that’s because the metal was made somewhere else — shipped across the ocean, marked up, and passed down to American consumers.If we produce that steel here at home, we can keep those prices stable.But in the mean time, we must be stratgetic about aluminum tariffs as manufacturing can't be built overnight. That’s what I mean by being smart about tariffs.You protect your workers, but you also protect your shoppers.You build your factories, but you keep your groceries affordable.That’s the balance Trump understands.He’s created a system that rewards American production, keeps our economy strong, and protects our military payroll… all without crushing the middle class.Common-sense Americans get it. They don’t take their cues from Wall Street; they take the temperature of the economy at the cash register.They know that when the shelves get more expensive, it’s because Washington let our manufacturing base go overseas.We can’t let that happen again.The Communist Party in China is the number one threat to our prosperity and our national security.We can’t depend on them for our energy, our chips, or our steel.President Trump has a comprehensive strategy to fix that — to make us energy independent, energy dominant, and economically secure.He’s putting us back on a path of American-made strength, using tariffs to protect the worker and the shopper.Because if we stay on the path Biden put us on, we’ll become a debtor nation.The dollar will weaken.
