DO THE MASH POTATO!
Cartoon Published 10/12/2025
Once upon a time there was a California representative who had her eyes on the open Governor seat. Her name was Katie Porter, and she was leading in the polls until video emerged that showed her swearing at her staff who had unintentionally walked into her video shot. Katie began berating the staffer and when she was asked about it later, she just brushed it off saying “I hold my staffers to high standards.”
Maybe Katie needs to hold herself to high standards—or at least take a refresher course in anger management.
The 2021 video clips went mega-viral and racked up millions of views and thousands of shares. Critics slammed her as “entitled,” a “bully,” and unfit for leadership. Suddenly, Katie was breaking the internet, but for all the wrong reasons. Those resurfaced clips turned Porter into the accidental star of “Democrats Behaving Badly: The Director’s Cut.”
Remember the Zoom snap in which she drops the F-bomb on a staffer for crossing her camera? Or the CBS interview that showed her ghosting the reporter mid-grill like a bad Tinder date? Those moments didn’t just make Katie look like the aunt who ruins Thanksgiving with her conspiracy rants—they painted the whole blue team as a squad of entitled divas who’d rather smash plates than pass policies
As the backlash snowballed, X users began resurfacing old anecdotes such as Porter allegedly dumping hot mashed potatoes on her ex-husband’s head during a divorce argument, and her 2016 claim that her 12-year-old daughter cried over Trump’s win fearing she’d lose abortion access if raped.
Talk about serving up drama! Now, with spuds symbolizing her simmering temper, the Dems are left holding the spoon, wondering if their “hope and mash” slogan needs a side of anger management. If this is the mash-up of 2026 campaign fodder, pass the gravy—it’s gonna be a bumpy, lumpy ride.
