3. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Isaiah 40:3. Isaiah, which means "Yahweh is salvation," speaks about Jesus in an almost eyewitness account. The Virgin birth [7:14], the Prince of Peace [9:6], the Suffering Servant [53], a Light to the Nations [49:6]. Today's verse tells of the coming of John the Baptist over 600 years before Christ's birth. It is a clear message for today of preparation to meet Christ. Making a highway straight in our hearts, with no turning to the vain things of this world, pulling high things down, and bringing up the things that please God. Making the rough places smooth. All flesh is like grass, here today, gone tomorrow. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever. This world is on a time limit, as we are, but those who follow the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully will live with Him for all of eternity. Amen.
