14. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.Ephesians 5:14. Awake all you who sleep, return to repentance, remember Christ, who died for you. Search your actions; are you living like saints or sinners? There is a great difference between being woke and awake. Woke is a term used to describe social issues of race, gender, and sexual immorality; it is not grounded in God's word, for it continues to wage war every minute against God's commands. Awake is not asleep, aware of all that is around you, and where the path you are on is leading. Paul is saying, if you are in Christ's light, if eternal life is your reward, do not partake of the works of darkness, for where Christ is, no darkness can be. You cannot have a foot in light and darkness. God's word says, "Come out from among them"; your words and actions must proclaim Christ. If not, you are asleep, not able to discern what is right from what is almost right. We are to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. We are to rebuke them. Amen.
