2. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.Isaiah 9:2 Isaiah chapter 9, written 2,765 years ago, is as true now as it was then. In the previous chapter was written of the gloom of anguish, driven into captivity by the Assyrians, because of idolatry. The location is the northern tribes, the first to be conquered. Yet verse two proclaims they will be the first to see Jesus the Messiah. Those who received Him experienced joy, as only a child of God can. And verse 6 is for all of mankind, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Out of a helpless child, Christ came to save mankind, fully God, fully man. Christ did what we failed to do; He was completely obedient to the Father and lived a sinless life. The Father raised Him up above everything that was created and had His Son sit next to Him at His right hand, till all Christ's enemies are destroyed, the last one being death. Amen to our God and Savior Jesus.
