1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Psalm 51:1
The psalmist, when he had fallen short, knew who he could go to for restoration.
Sin is against God, and only He can pardon.
The psalmist admitted his sin to God, asking for mercy according to God's love and kindness, and His never-ending mercy.
This phrase, "blot out," means in the record of our sins, the sins recorded required a payment, and it was death. Christ paid that debt with His life. His blood has covered the record in the book, and the Almighty can only see His Son's blood.
There is no remembrance of sin, no record, so no judgment or punishment can be implemented; all the Almighty Father sees is a person declared not guilty.
This Christ, the Son of the Living God, completed His mission in perfection.
There is no other way; any attempt to circumvent Christ's path of salvation will lead to eternal destruction. Amen.
