“Rogue” lion shocks scientists after helping a man.
For a week, a photographer followed a lone rogue lion across the savannah, risking everything to capture the perfect shot that could help support his newborn child.
When he finally got it, he made the long 15-mile trek back to camp. But when he arrived, his heart sank his $15,000 camera lens was gone. With no way of retrieving it, the trip seemed ruined, leaving him worse off than before.
The next morning, he stood outside camp, waiting for the convoy to take him to the airstrip defeated, ready to leave it all behind. Then, out of the tall grass, the rogue lion appeared carrying the missing lens in his jaws.
The only explanation for the lion’s act, scientists say, was that the lion saw him as a friend. While the man believed he had been secretly observing the lion all week, the truth may have been the opposite the lion knew he was there all along, and came to see him as a friend.
Fittingly, the photo of the lion carrying that lens became the one that provided for the photographer’s child.
