Over 100 years ago, Pvt. Walter Beagle, a Black soldier, trained at Camp Jackson in South Carolina. At that time, the Army didn’t treat everyone fairly. Today, his great-grandson, Brig. Gen. Milford Beagle Jr., commands that very same base. He says it feels special to walk through the same gates his great-grandfather once did. General Beagle is proud to follow in his family’s footsteps and to serve his country.
