28. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.Acts 26:28Paul gives his defense before King Agrippa. He admits to persecuting Christians before his conversion. Agrippa, being familiar with Jewish law, Paul asks if he believes the prophets. Saying he was being obedient to Christ after his vision, he preached Christ's death and resurrection in the temple, where the Jews seized him.Paul insisted that the king knew of Christ's crucifixion because it was not done in secret. Festus bursts out that Paul has become mad in all he has learned about Christ. King Agrippa speaks the saddest phrase ever: "Thou almost persuaded me to be a Christian." Almost had eternal life, almost delivered from judgment of hell; almost is not enough. To become a Christian, you turn from darkness to light in Christ.Turning from Satan to Christ is repentance. You are set apart by faith in Christ; you have a place with God's people, and all your sins are forgiven. This is the way, this is truth, this is life eternal guaranteed. Amen.
