21. Except for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.
Acts 24:21.
Paul is testifying before Felix, a Roman ruler, why the Jews attacked him. When he told them that he was taking the Gospel to the Gentiles, they freaked out and wanted to kill him. Paul sees that half of them are Pharisees, which he was one also before his conversion. They believe in angels and spirits and the resurrection of the dead. That's fair, you see. The Sadducees do not believe in angels or spirits or the resurrection of the dead, and that's sad, you see. Now you know the difference. This is why Paul brings this up talking to Felix. Paul has a lot to say about the resurrection of Christ in 1 Corinthians 15. If Christ did not rise from death, we are still in our sins. And all who have died before us have perished because no atonement has been made for sin. I encourage you to read it. Paul, in plain and simple terms, explained our victory in Christ Jesus. Christ defeated Satan, sin, and death on the cross, paying our debt by dying in our place. And we receive grace and mercy in the promise of eternal life in Christ. Amen.
