4. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
10. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
Psalm 103:4, 10.
The psalmist begins this song with, "Bless the LORD." Forget not all His benefits, who forgives all our iniquities, who heals all our diseases.
Verse 4: He redeems our life from destruction; only Christ can remove the punishment of sin, which is the destruction of the soul in hell. Christ is pictured here as a crown surrounds the head; the people of the Lord are surrounded with Christ's mercy and lovingkindness.
Verse 10: Christ has not given us what we deserve for our sins, nor given us the reward of sin, which is eternal destruction.
Christ Himself took the punishment on His own body and paid with His blood.
Verse 12: Christ, because of His mercy, which is without measure. His sacrifice has covered our sin, so it cannot be seen. So when the Almighty sees us, He sees us as not guilty.
We are but dust, but this dust is valuable to Christ, who gave His life for it, that we may be with Him. Amen.
