13. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus, whom Paul preacheth.
Acts 19:13.
We have an account of certain unbelieving Jews who traveled from place to place, using charms and incantations, to tell fortunes, cure sicknesses, and cast out devils.
The people called them exorcists, calling upon the God of Abraham, to cast out evil spirits.
This time looking for either praise or for money, they used the name of Jesus whom Paul preached. Having no relationship with Jesus they had no authority over any created being.
The devil responds that he knows Jesus as the Son of God and His power to expel a demon spirit. And he knows Paul, a servant of Christ, who has expelled demons, by the authority Christ, gave him.
But who are you he says. You are not servants of the Most High God. You are not servants of Christ, you are children of Satan having no power over us, you are subject to us.
Then the demon jumped on the men, prevailing against them beating them badly.
You can not play in the spirit world. Without Christ, you have no power and will pay the price.
On the last day, those without Christ will suffer more than a beating. Without Christ the sentence for refusing is eternal. Amen.
