4. For the LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men.5. The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.Psalm 11:4-5. King David is advised by those closest to him to flee like a bird to the mountains. He is either being pursued by Saul or Absalom, seeking his life. He responds that all his trust is in the Lord. God is in His holy temple, and He sits on His throne in heaven. Who can do violence to those who are protected by God? While his friends' advice is full of fear, David reminds them the Lord has not gone anywhere, and he stands on faith, remembering all the times the Lord has rescued him. Christ is at the right hand of the Almighty. What plots can men devise that could be hidden from Christ? Christ continues to make intercession on our behalf, to the Almighty. David's confidence is not foolish or self-reliant. David relies on God, who is holy, all-powerful, and all-knowing. If Christ is for us, who can prevail against us? Amen.
