TO THE MOON! Cartoon published 06/28/2025 President Trump wants interest rates lowered, but Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell won’t do it. Perhaps it’s because he has Trump Derangement Syndrome—there is no logical reason to keep rates high and lower rates will save America billions of dollars in interest payments. It’s time to lower the rates. Inflation has been quelled and should it move up again, Trump said Powell can always raise rates commensurately. Trump cannot fire Powell outright because that would be a threat to the Fed’s independence and sovereignty. Why are they independent to begin with? They certainly are neither ‘federal’ nor a ‘reserve.’ Powell’s term runs through next year, but Trump has an alternative—appointing his own Fed chair who will make the case for rate cuts. The anti-Trump lefty media arms (who have the gall to call themselves ‘journalists’) are outraged about the prospect. They claim Trump’s move to impact the Fed is dangerous and unprecedented. What’s really dangerous and unprecedented was allowing the Federal Reserve and their Gestapo IRS to get started in the first place. Meanwhile, the stock market continues to make new highs. This is unusual, because usually the markets struggle under higher interest rates. If Trump can twist Powell’s arm hard enough, the markets will rocket even higher. Trump wants economic prosperity for America. One way to achieve that would be to end the Federal Reserve altogether. We should not have to pay interest on our own money. —Ben Garrison
