22. This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked. Job 9:22. Job answered his friend Bildad's accusations of wrongdoing on his part. That God is beyond his ability to know completely. How can a man be more righteous before God? Who can contend with God and prosper? Who can answer God one time out of a thousand? Job's wisdom comes in this verse. God destroys the perfect and the wicked. This word destroyeth, kālâ, is translated, coming to the end, bringing one's years to an end. The wicked are those hostile to God, ungodly, and guilty. The perfect are not sinless, yet their sins are covered in Christ's righteousness, there is no more remembrance or punishment. Before Christ's death, the altar was a place where God and man connected, the sacrifice symbolized that a life was offered for sin. This is a picture of Christ, who sacrificed His life for us once; it never needed to be repeated. The wicked do not have this protection or covering. At the end, judgment comes, destruction, translated, do away with, of divine judgment. We shall never be perfect until we reach heaven and Christ has ensured we will be with Him. Amen.
