28. Saying, Did not we straightly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.29. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.Acts 5:28-29. Here is another example of intimidation of the apostles. They had commanded Peter and John not to preach in the name of Jesus. A message without Christ is a message without power. Peter and the rest answered, We ought to obey God, not men. The religious leaders were angry, because all of Jerusalem was filled with the Gospel message. That there is no Savior but Christ the Lord. And forgiveness from sin can be found only in Christ's death on the cross, which was organized by the religious leaders. Now they are cut to the heart, and seek to kill the apostles. The apostles came not to accuse, but to bring the covering of the Lord Christ and His righteousness, over all the religious leaders, this is the work, Christ left us to do. Spread the word, Christ frees a believer from sin and death. Amen.
