25. Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?26. The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. Acts 4:25-26. Peter and John returned to their congregation and reported what the religious leaders had done to them. They now all pray in one accord, saying, Thou art God, the maker of heaven and earth. Using Psalm 2:1-2, they realize that God was speaking through King David, of how the heathen rage, and plot vain things against Christ, the Son of God, Savior of the world. Today you can see the very same thing. You can talk of vain gods that have no power, and there is no resistance. Yet speak of Christ, and there is a great uproar, for the demons and devils, revolt against the Holy One of God. Christ is God, King, Priest, Shepherd, Physician, Savior. The followers of Christ know He is in control, and all things must pass through His hands first. Servants can be tied up and silenced. The Son of God, cannot be silenced. He is the Word of God, unleashed, unbound, the powerful Gospel message that has reached out to the world after His resurrection. It is still changing and saving people in our time because Christ is the Victorious King, undefeated. Amen.
