7. Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
8. Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?
9. Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
Psalm 77:7-9.
We have six questions of doubt here. First, will the Lord cast off forever? Lamentations 3:31, For the LORD will not cast off for ever:
Second, will the Lord be favourable no more? Psalm 5:12, Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with favor as with a shield. Third, and fourth, is His mercy clean gone, doth His promise fail for evermore. Ephesians 2:4-5. 4. God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) the promise in Christ of eternal life is sure in Christ Jesus. Fifth and sixth, hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he shut up his tender mercies? Lamentations 3:22-23. 22. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
So from the Word of God, we have answers for doubt.
Christ Himself is the chief cornerstone of our faith, this is the Gospel Paul preached, that Christ unites Jews and Gentiles, equal in His saving work on the cross. Christ has promised, He would never leave or forsake us. We may put our total trust in Him. For what god or idol of men's imagination, died for them, so that they may live.
Christ is for all the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. Paying the debt in full with His blood. Therefore there is no need to doubt, just believe. Amen.
