4. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?5. They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.John 18:4-5. As soon as He said, I am. They all fell over on their backs. They came to arrest Christ at night thinking He would be hiding. But far from a fleeing criminal, Jesus confronted them with His infinite power. With just, I am, He proved He did not have to go with them. Yet He went out in obedience to the Almighty Father. Christ's life was filled with humility, and with it His majestic glory. Jesus was born a helpless child. He was announced by angels. He was laid in a manger, signaled by a star. Baptized as if He were a sinner, a Divine voice showed approval. Sleeping in the boat, awoke to calm the storm. Wept at a grave, then called the dead to life. Surrendered to arrest, declares, I am, all who came fall over at His two words. Humbled by a death on the cross, Christ, defeated sin, death, and Satan. Amen.
