18. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.19. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.20. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.John 6:18-20. Jesus has just fed over 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and two small fish. The people sought to make Jesus a ruler, not because of His teachings, but to get food without having to work. Jesus separated Himself from the multitude and went into the mountains. The disciples having left in a boat are about three and three quarters miles from shore. A wind is keeping them from making progress across the lake. Jesus can see their predicament from the mountain and comes to their aid. But they are afraid. Jesus says it is I be not afraid. And they welcome Him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at its destination. This miracle did not happen till Jesus was recognized and received. So it is today. We can complain about what is going on around us. Or we can recognized Jesus as the One who controls all things. And welcome Him into the boat, which is the situation, and receive what we need from the Master. Amen.
