Right! The Civil War Amendments were all passed by the Rep party. Now that we're on the subject the Southern States that seceded from the Union were all slave holding states controlled by Dems.
The Democratic and Republican Parties have not always had the same ideals that they have today. In fact, America's two dominant political parties have essentially flipped ideologies in the time since they were founded.
The Democratic Party was founded in 1828 while the Republican Party dates back to 1854.
In its early years, the Republican Party was considered quite liberal, while the Democrats were known for staunch conservatism. This is the exact opposite of how each party would be described today.
So sure, stand on the principles of a party that no longer supports those views.
Republicans now support policies that oppose those you have listed.
Republicans want to remove minorities without the due process guaranteed by our laws.
If immigrants are truly deserving of deportation then allow them the process and protection under our laws, or change the laws to allow them current administration to do what they are currently doing.
So quit standing on the concept that republicans have been champions of fairness and law. They no longer can claim being the party protecting justice and freedom. They are the party of unjust actions now.
One off mistakes can be excused. Multiple actions of basically third world kidnapping of “undesirable” people is truly problematic and indefensible.
