In his writings, Smith described meeting a group who were unusually tall and strong, which he referred to as "giants."" First the little people killed all the giants, then erased them from our knowledge. The excuse we give is that it's a metaphor, and they wanted to 'look like giants'. Which is tenuous like any other explanation from academia.
