We found a world and dug it up.
No one made any canal - they had already been built. All the trainlines and tram-infrastructure was already integrated and had been for hundreds of years.

The entire narrative is just weird. Castles in the distance, giant bicycle wheels that you could easily fall off! They barely had roads in most places.
