29. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world.30. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.John 1:29-30. John's gospel gives an account of John the Baptist seeing Jesus coming after he had baptized Him, also after Christ finished His temptation in the desert of forty days. John the Baptist was told by God that when he saw the Spirit come down on who he was baptizing, He would be the Messiah. So John the Baptist, being a witness, says to the people, behold the Lamb of God. At the beginning of Christ's ministry, He is greeted with words declaring His sacrificial death for sin. John's declaration is Jesus is the sacrifice for sin. Sin, not plural sins. The entire guilt of humanity was collected and placed on Christ. All sin has been paid in full by Christ, satisfying the wrath of the Almighty. John the Baptist was Jesus's cousin, being six months older than Jesus. Here he says Jesus was before him. Jesus's cousin John knew of the eternal existence of Jesus and that Jesus was God. Amen.
