3. The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 4. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.2 Samuel 22:3-4. King David sings this song to the Lord. In the battle with the Philistines, he is exhausted, and a giant seeks to kill him. He is saved by one of his men. Four giants are removed from the earth in this battle. The King, in his later years, needed help, and God supplied. As David retired as a warrior, God raised up giant killers in Israel. King David knew God as Savior of his soul and also of his life. His song is knowledge of the foundation of his success is God. King David's trust was firm in the Lord, and no other. Even in our later years when the strength of youth is gone. The Lord does not cast us off. He has a purpose and service for us, He is God of young and old, and there is no time in our lives where He is not a very present time of help and comfort. Right up to the last breath. Amen, Lord Jesus, How great thou art. Amen.
