2. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.3. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?4. And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;Luke 14:2-4. Jesus is at the house of a Pharisee, having a meal. They are watching very closely. To find fault in His words or deeds, this being the sabbath day. Jesus sees a man with dropsy, we call it edema, it is water retention in the body. Jesus asks if it is lawful to heal on the sabbath, but they would not answer. There is no command to prevent healing on the sabbath. If there was Jesus, would not be sinless. Jesus proves He has the authority to heal on the sabbath for the religious leaders take care of their livestock on the sabbath if they can help animals, then Jesus is saying, if you help animals, you are not brutal or cruel men. So extend that same kindness to needy people. Amen.
