Five parrots had to be separated at a UK zoo because they kept swearing at visitors... and laughing about it together.
The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park adopted five African grey parrots—Billy, Elsie, Eric, Jade, and Tyson—at the same time, and things got wild pretty fast. The birds started hurling curse words at guests, often in perfect timing, and then laughed together like a little group of troublemakers.
Visitors found it funny (which only encouraged them more), and the parrots were clearly enjoying the attention. One zookeeper compared them to “old men in a pub.”
Eventually, the zoo decided to separate the birds to stop them from egging each other on—hoping they might pick up some more polite phrases from the other animals around them.
