New Funding Pulled From Maine Prisons For Housing Biological Males In Women’s Prisons
Attorney general Pam Bondi has pulled non-essential federal funding from the department of corrections in Maine, after the state decided to house a biological male – convicted of multiple murders – in a women’s prison
Bondi saying
“A giant six-foot-one, 245-pound guy who committed a double murder with a knife, stabbed his parents to death and the family dog, and he identified as a woman,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in an interview on Fox News. “So they were letting him be housed in a female prison. No longer.”
The announcement appears to be about 26-year-old Andrew Balcer, who was convicted of murder in 2018 and sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Balcer was initially sent to a men’s prison in 2022 but was transferred to a women’s facility by the Maine DOC after he decided to be a she – and changed his name to Andrea.
Balcer said he didn’t think his parents would support his transition, so he killed them.
It's not clear how much funding the department will lose, but some estimate it could be more than $1.5 million in federal grants.
Maine is the subject of multiple investigations for failing to keep men out of women's sports, and for housing men in women’s prisons – both are violations of president trump’s executive orders.
According to the federal bureau of prisons more than 1,500 of the 10,000 inmates in women's prisons – or 15% - are biological men
