1. Then hecalled his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.Luke 9:1-2. Jesus sends those who have been with Him from the beginning. Judas, the one who would betray Him, was among the twelve. Jesus, before delegating the work they were to do, delegated the power and authority to do the work. This authority and power over demons is to cast them out and over sickness and disease to cure. To preach the kingdom of God is to proclaim the King of kings has arrived, Jesus the Messiah is here with us. The kingdom is not what mankind expected. The kingdom of God is a community of all who repent of sin and believe Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the world. The same is true today, Jesus sends those He has equipped to preach the kingdom of God and heal. Judas had a very real experience with God's power but chose money over the eternal reward. Amen.
