IT’S LIBERATION DAY Cartoon published 04/02/2025 Today is “Liberation Day,” as designated by President Trump to commemorate the implementation of his tariff policy. For far too long, other countries have taken advantage of us by levying tariffs on US goods. They must have taken it granted that we are ’nice guys’ (patsies) who will go along with such an arrangement without pushing back. Trump is a businessman who is used to pushing back. Trump’s tariffs will generate substantial revenue—possibly $100 to $600 billion annually while boosting domestic manufacturing. Those hundreds of billions in revenue could add up to real money over time. Perhaps they will even make the gestapo-like IRS unnecessary. The Swamp-dwelling, pearl clutching, hand-wring Democrats and pinheaded economists are fretting about higher consumer prices and possible disruptions to supply chains. Some warn of a stock market crash and a recession. Even if all of that happens, it will be worth it in the long run. We at GrrrGraphics decided to repost a cartoon drawn several years ago. It features Trump pulling Uncle Sam out of the Deep State Swamp—thus liberating him. It is what he hoped would happen and President Trump is now making it happen. — The GrrrTeam
