33. For John the Baptist
came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
34. The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35. But wisdom is justified of all her children.
Luke 7:33-35.
The religious leaders thought John was mad and possessed by a demon.
Christ, they slandered as a glutton and a drunk. A friend of sinners and tax collectors, which is true not in the sense that Christ put up with their sins but broke the chains that held them.
Most of the religious leaders spoke against John and Christ.
So, if the messenger is not accepted, the message will be unwelcome.
The children of wisdom are the wise choices and actions of those who have it.
John made a way for Christ. And Christ has made a way for all who believe in Him. Over 2000 years after His death and resurrection, people are still being saved to His kingdom by the power of His blood. Amen.
