3. And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
4. As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Luke 3:3-4.
The Evangelist gives a historical account of John the Baptist preaching around Jordon.
And quotes Isaiah 40:3. This is a picture of Christ returning g, as a triumphant King, and the road being prepared for His travel.
Isaiah 40:4 speaks of valleys filled in, mountains brought down, crooked roads made straight, and rough places made smooth.
This is John's mission preparing hearts.
The road for the King must be prepared, removing every obstacle.
This road is our hearts. Not all are the same.
This work is for every living person. All flesh shall see the glory of the Lord. If their hearts are prepared.
Preparing a road is much like God preparing a heart. They are both costly. They both deal with different problems and environments. And they both take an expert engineer.
Christ who spoke all you can see, and all you can not see into existence, is able to save the soul closest to destruction by the power of His cleansing blood. No soul who has turned to Him has ever been turned away. Amen.
