2. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.3. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?4. And when they looked, they saw the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.Mark 16:2-4 Mark gives an account of the first Easter. Some say this word is from a pagan holiday. Others say it is Latin for dawn. The word is one of the oldest Old English words and has been used for over a thousand years. There is no pagan origin of Christ's resurrection. For Christ, cast devils and spirits out of the afflicted and from His presence. Easter is a time to remember that Jesus rose from death, never to experience it again. His followers will be raised from their graves and given their eternal reward. It sounds impossible just as the women thought how they could not remove the stone that sealed Christ's tomb. The angel removed the stone not to let Christ out but to let those see that Christ was not there. Every day since Christ arose and took His place on the right hand of the Father is Easter for us. For we whose Lord is Christ will not be held captives in darkness for the dawn has risen and we shall never experience death ever again. Forever we shall rejoice in Christ Jesus the Lord Son of the most High God. Amen.
