10. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
Psalm 90:10-11.
This song is a prayer of Moses in the wilderness before his death.
Moses was a witness to God's judgment in the wilderness. Sin is the cause of judgment.
Moses understood the eternity of God and the frailty of man.
God's judgment has been recorded in the Bible, the flood in Genesis, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Moses says the days of men are 70 years, and if we live longer, we still must continue with our daily tasks, and soon we are gone. Yet God lives on and on.
Moses lived to be 120, and he prayed men would ask for wisdom.
We are not born with the wisdom to count our days. Each one is precious. And who can create another day when they reach the end.
To number our days is to understand how short life is and how long eternity is.
The wise will prepare for where they go after death by submitting to Christ, who prepared a place for them, and staying on the narrow path.
The thoughts of fools are not concerned with the future.
And they prove the saying, if you don't care where you're going, any road will get you there. Amen.
