2. And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.3. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.Mark 11:2-3. In Zechariah 9:9, it speaks of Israel's King coming into Jerusalem on a colt, being just, and having salvation. Here, Christ fulfilled this scripture. Now, the religious leaders thought the Messiah would enter Jerusalem as a conquering King on a mighty war-horse if Israel was worthy, and if not, the Messiah would enter on a colt. Israel considered itself worthy and only looked for triumphant, conquering Messiah. Jesus tells two disciples to go into the village and untie a colt on which no one has ridden, and if anyone asks, what are you doing, say the Lord needs him. Christ's command over all He created is shown in that none opposed the colt being taken. And if anyone has tried to ride an unbroken animal, he or she will find a wild ride. Christ, having authority over all things, had no trouble riding the colt. So here is the lesson, if Christ can tame the wild nature of an untamed animal, He will have no difficulty in taming our sinful nature if we let Him. Amen.
