7. Remember, not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.
8. Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
Psalm 25:7-9.
The psalmist asked God to remember His mercy and kindness. Here, he asks God to forget his sins and transgressions. When God remembers His mercy, He forgets our sins.
Good and upright is the Lord. God is just to judge or destroy sinners. God can also teach sinners which way to travel. The Lord's goodness can be a benefit to sinners instead of for their destruction.
Not every sinner receives God's goodness. All who come before Him who humble themselves will. A humble spirit before God gains favor, for God sees in that spirit the image of His Son. Amen.
