3. Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4. But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon and found a few sick folk, and healed them.
Mark 6:3-5.
Jesus is in His hometown, in the synagogue teaching. The residents are offended because of His wisdom and His mighty works they heard of from other cities.
Now they speak against Christ, as if they knew all about Him. Being so close yet unable to see that the Son of God is among them. They insult Him, saying he is the son of Mary, having no legitimate father. They mention His brothers and sisters, Mary had children after Jesus.
Jesus said a prophet could not be complimented in their own city. For the people thinking they knew everything, knew nothing about God's chosen. This is foretold in Isaiah 53:2.
The love of Christ is shown in while He is being slandered, He heals a few that believe. But He could do no great work because the majority did not believe. It is the same today we receive not, because we do not ask in faith.
But Jesus has not changed, I was flat on my back with a lower back injury, for a year, and they said after the surgery, I might not be able to walk. I told them I would come back when I could not walk. God healed me, and I retired from the Ironworkers Local 433 Los Angeles in 2013.
Jesus is still saving souls, still doing miracles. Amen. Just Believe.
