This time of year is perfect for looking up and checking out what's hiding in our trees, now that the leaves are gone, or almost gone. DYK that those leafy clumps that sometimes look like stuck leftovers could actually be prime real estate? Squirrels whip up cozy nests that look just like that, called dreys! 🐿️🍂 Did you also know that a squirrel's drey is not just a simple nest? These intricate structures can be quite elaborate, often made from twigs, leaves, and even bits of moss. Squirrels will typically build their dreys high up in the trees to stay safe from predators. They’re also known to line the inside with soft materials like fur and feathers to create a warm and snug environment.
