18. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not: until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.19. Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!20. Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Psalm 71:18-20. The psalmist seeks God in his old age, asking for strength to instruct the younger, those who need to know the Almighty. How to worship, and pray, but here he teaches trust when his time is coming to an end. He wants the young to know the greatness of God, His holiness and power, His unmatched love, and mercy. This verse shows the solid foundation on which the psalmist stood. All the things good and troublesome that he had lived through. His trust was that at the end, he had nothing to be afraid of. Death would be nothing but a promotion to eternal life. The psalmist claims that the Lord would bring him up from the earth and make him alive again. This is our hope also because Christ is a promise keeper. Amen.
