18. Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.19. Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Psalm 68:18-19. The psalmist gives praise to God, who dealt with his enemies, and received gifts of tribute and submission from them. That God, the true owner of the land, would dwell therein. Paul in Ephesians 4:8 applied this to Jesus. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He sent the power and gifts of the Holy Ghost to His church. Paul changed one word, received gifts, was changed to gave gifts. Christ has conquered and triumphed over all powers, which held us in captivity so that all evil power itself is taken captive. We can not deny that every day added to our salvation, we receive benefits from God. Who is able to count the number? Many have gone unnoticed by us. There is no salvation without Christ, He alone has made a way of escape from the spiritual death we earned by sin. Amen.
